Late 1800's: The Klu Klux Klan also heard as the KKK was put together as a social club by a small group of the confederate Army veterans. The was put together in Pulaski, Tennessee near 1865. The Klan's 1st leader was Nathan Bedford Forrest. Nathan Bedford Forrest was a Confederate General and was nickamed the "Grand Wizard." The name The Klu Klux
This included people who were blacks, Jews, immigrants, and Roman Catholics. The main idea or philosphy of the KKK was white superiorness. This new Klan was against anyone who was un-American. It was put together by Samuel Green who was an Atlantic physician. The KKK became a powerful force as it elected many public officials all over the nation. The force Bill was an act that gave the President permission to use federal troops against the KKK if this was necessarily needed. But Green died in 1949, so the KKK splitted into numerous numbers of small groups all over the country. Simmons, who was a former Methodist preacher. The KKK would use violence and terrorization of blacks a lot. The KKK terrorized blacks to try to prevent them from voting in the elections or to practice any other rights. The KKK became knows at the invisble empire because it grew so fast.
