Lord of the Flies is a very interesting book that overall symbolizes that there is evil mankind,and some of us are able to stay away from that, but some like Roger aren't. Piggy is the most rational in the group. " The Lord of the Flies is a sows head that Jack and his hunters killed. ""We'll raid them and take fire"(136). The sow symolizes Satan and Simon represents Jesus, in a biblical version. As the book progresses, the boys show their savage sides in different degrees. "You knew didn't you? I'm part of you"(143). His glasses represent the "power of science and intellectual endeavor in society. This symbol becomes very important when the sow talks to Simon telling him that evil lies within every human heart. he choir are the hunters, and they light the signal fire. "Since the beginning of the novel Piggy's glasses has always been important for making the signal fire. "When Jack's hunters raid Ralph's camp and steal the glasses, the savages effectively have the power to make fire, leaving Ralph's group helpless.

The devil is also one of the main symbols in Lord of the Flies.
