The Patriot

             "The Patriot" was a really good movie, which I was surprised about since I usually don't like war movies. They never seem to have enough of a story to them to make them seem real, and at the same time some of them are all too real, almost making me sick. Yet this movie had a perfect balance of drive and strength and love and an ambition for a cause. A young boy willing to die for his older brother and an older brother, only 17, willing to fight for something as selfless as his country. Then a fathers' undying love for his family, Mixed with the tension of war and death and ups and downs...it was amazing how they pulled it off.
             The movie starts with Benjamin Martin, a single father, being very adamant about not want Gabriel, his oldest son, to go to war. He does not believe in fighting, but Gabriel goes anyway.
             One day a battle breaks out at the Martin's farm and the Martins' give aide to all the wounded soldiers, British or patriot. And then Gabriel shows up, wounded, but alive. Just after that the Colonel William Tavington, a British Commander, comes along and shoots all of the wounded patriot soldiers and takes the others as prisoners of war, to be hanged as examples in the town, Gabriel is one of them. So one of the younger sons runs out to try and get his big brother back and is shot and dies in his father's arms. Shot by Col. Tavington. Then the Colonel proceeds to take the patriots into town. After they leave his farm he gets his two oldest remaining sons and his guns and he heads off the British by running through the woods, he shoots them from behind trees and defeats them. Getting his son back, Gabriel. They go to town and free the prisoners of war and then go back to their farm .
             Ben tries to convince Gabriel not to go back to the war saying he will not lose another son. But again, Gabriel goes. This inspires Ben and he starts up a militia. The militia go a
