Not only National Center educated people and helped local victim service providers but also provided services to individual victims. They developed “September 11 Response Card” for anyone willing to help those harmed by the tragic events. It provided 4,000 local providers with breaking news about policy development through series of emails. Post September 11th, communication between National Center and victims doubled. Also affiliated groups and organizations provided the public with guidance. People who were affected were aided as soon as possible. They talked to people all over the United States who needed help locating their loved ones lost during the attacks. Assisting the local victim service providers allowed them to expand the scope of their services. Thoroughly understanding the normal reactions to horribly abnormal, inhumane events National Center introduced free resources for victims. Their services to individual victims ranged from providing supportive counseling, practical assistance, and information about what they are experiencing, to referrals to local social service organizations.
Soon after the attacks National Center began educating the public. Everyday agents of National Center communicated with victims all over the country who were displaced, grieving, or seeking information about emergency financial assistance. While the events of September 11th have strained the resources of victim service providers across the country, the National Center for Victims of Crime played a critical role in building the capacity of these local providers.
In addition to educating public, National Center helped local victim service organizations.
