Movies

             "An entertainment is something which distracts us or diverts us from the routine of daily life. It makes us for the time being forget our cares and worries; it interrupts our conscious thoughts and habits, rests our nerves and mind, though it may incidentally exhaust our bodies. Art, on the other hand, though it may divert us from the normal routine of our existence, causes us in some way or other to become conscious of that existence."
             This quote, from a British critic, could not be more right. I apply this quote to the area of entertainment, movies. I think that there is a distinct line between a work of art or just entertainment, as the quote says. The aspects of the motion picture that causes me to think, to change, and become more aware of who I am, is what I look for. When I watch a movie, whether it is a comedy, drama, thriller or action flick, it is more than just some thing to take me out of my life's worries and responsibilities, I look at all the details of the picture and analyze it's significance, and hope that it make me think about the that subject mater of the movie. I usually pay no attention to what other people think of a movie or how many stars the newspaper gave it. The things I really care about in a movie, to tell whether it is a work of art or just entertainment, comes under two categories, esthetics and content.
             The esthetics of the motion picture, or the part that appeals to the eye, is a very vital part of a movie going experience to me. First of I look at the movie's previews and adds to see what the general quality will be of the film, to see if it has been over exposed or over advertised. Usually, but no all the time, this means that there is not many good parts or scenes left that they haven't shown.
