In my opinion abortion should never be legal, however there are some strict circumstances where abortion may be considered but this action may not be the only action available in these circumstances. My beliefs are based fundamentally on two major principles:
The first principle, Thou shall not kill. I believe that the foetus is a human being from the first heart beat about four weeks in to the pregnancy which is normally before you are aware of being pregnant.
The second principle is that I believe that people should face up to the consequences of their actions even when the consequences are not what they planned or hoped for, or had even taken methods to prevent.
I am aware that some people believe that a foetus is not a baby until it is 20 weeks in the womb, but this makes no sense since it has always been a baby just in a different state of development.
My second principle, facing up to consequences, is what we expect in every other aspect of life e.g. crime and imprisonment and living beyond your means. Therefore if you wish to take part in sexual activity then you should be prepared for the consequences.
The strict conditions where abortion may be considered and each case examined individually by professionals such as doctors, psychologists or social workers are:
1. Where having the baby may kill the mother
2. mental incapacity of the mother to carry a child in pregnancy and look after the child once it is born
3. incestuous relations or child abuse
Another circumstance which may be considered is rape. This is difficult because if you report the incident straight after it has happened then the victim is given the morning after pill which stops a pregnancy from occurring. But if the incident is not reported straight away a pregnancy may occur and cause mental pain for the victim reminding them of their ordeal.
In conclusion, I do not think abortion should be legal and the woman's right
