Relationships Can Have.......

             Relationships can have both positive and negative aspects. Every relationship shares good times and bad times, this is one of the factors that build a strong bond between two people. Some of the most important aspects of relationships are dependency, love, and inequality.
             In a relationship most people tend to create a very big need for dependency. Dependency can be a very negative or positive factor in a relationship. We see many examples of this in the text. In the selection "Like Two Slant Trees", Fred Cogswell describes two people who depend on each other "Lean on me, he said loving her weakness and she leaned hard adoring his strength". This excerpt describes a positive sense of dependency. It shows that the woman depends on the man and he loves her "need" for him. However having a strong dependency on another person is not always a good thing! Sometimes we become too dependent on a person and we find ourselves "lost" without them. In the selection "Housewife" the mother/wife feels as though she carries a very large dependency load. Her two children depend on her to do everything and so does her husband. The woman feels as though she is trapped and can't get out of it "So I live inside my wedding ring, Inside its arch, Multiplying the tables of my days, Rehearsing the lessons of this dish, that sleeve, Wanting the book that no one wrote Loving my husband, my children, my home Wanting to go. Do others feel like this? Where do they go?"
             Probably one of the biggest factors in a relationship is Love. No relationship can survive without love. Love can be displayed in many different ways and can sometimes be hard to distinguish. We see many different ways of displaying love in the unit Relationships.
