Habits of the Heart: Reaction

My reaction of this book “Habits of the Heart” when I first bought it was that it would be very hard to read because the book has over three hundred pages filled with very microscopic typed words. When the instructor first assigned our assignment for this book, I was shocked because we had only two weeks to read the book and do the assignment. Two weeks to read the whole book, I knew that I won’t finish reading the whole book in two weeks because I am a slow reader and I hate reading a book, especially a long one. I know that I won’t finish the book because when I read a book makes me bored and makes me want to sleep. Also another thing why I know was that I won’t finish the book is because I have other assignments for other classes to do too. So that means I have to try as hard as I can to read as much as I can, as much so I can do the assignment. For this assignment we have to do a two-page reaction paper on this book, find ten words and

. . .

In this chapter it talks about the family, love, and marriage of the people they talked about in this chapter. Another reaction that I had was that I felt bad for myself because I didn’t read the

whole book because I only had two weeks to read it. Also

this chapter introduces some historical leaders and their saying in the past. The four that were introduced in this chapter were Brian Palmer who is a successful businessman, Joe Gorman, Margaret Oldham who is a therapist, and Wayne Bauer. It tells how everything in society relates to our development of ourselves.

Part one of this book titled “Private Life” section includes chapters three through six. Some of the historical leaders that were introduced were George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and John

Winthrop.

The introductory section of the book consist of chapters one and two. Also talks on how love and marriage has changed in the past to now. This book even shows examples of history’s individualism and American life and how it links to modern American individualism. This chapter the book shows different views of those four people on how they tend to find happiness and their personal lives. But I think that I got the point of this book even after reading only six of the eleven chapters in this book. In chapter five titled “Reaching Out” talks about kinship relationship. Chapter four titled “Love and Marriage” talks about the relationship of oneself.
