International relations: Using Theoretical Lenses
It's not hard for many of us to take a look at lives and see how greatly we are effected by the influences of the world around us. Our jobs and salaries depend on international markets. Our economy reflects hardships in foreign countries as well as our own. The prices at the gas pumps make us curse under our breaths about the middle east. And nothing is a great pain than trying to get through the airport. But may for many of us, we have no clue how the country should react to international relations. What do the politicians and news papers mean when they talk about liberalist and realist? The purpose of this paper is to explain and define these theoretical lenses. By definition liberalism is "a political theory favoring civil and political liberties, government by law with consent of the governed, and protected from arbitrary authority" (AHC, 781). The key word throughout the definition is most definitely "liberty".
