Fiction

One time, on Spring break, my friends and me had a fun, interesting time. One particular moment stood out the most. It was the funniest, most immature part of the trip. My friend Geramy and I decided to go "fizzlin," slang for fishing. We went to our usual spot, the bridge at the lake near the condos. There were so many pin fish in the lake that we could literally swipe a line through the water and snag a random fish on its back. After a while, all of the girls came out to the lake and onto the bridge. I had just caught another fish, when Melissa decided to criticize the clothes I was wearing. This is a story about Melissa, a fish, and the best cast anyone could ever imagine. The quote "There are a million other fish in the sea" was literal in our case. After I caught this fish, Melissa began to whine and

"THWACK!" The dead fish drilled Melissa on the top of her head. The decapitated fish was so pungent, I could almost see a green stinch trailing behind it. I laughed along with everyone else, but Melissa growled with anger. " "So, we are 'bout to go out to dinner!" "You are, stupid, I'm not, so shut up!" "Uh! Whatever Cullie, you are so immature!" "Actually, I'm being careless 'cause I'm on vacation, so once again, please SHUT UP!" After that, she did, for about thirty seconds. We both smiled and she gave me a friendly punch on the arm. She began to loosen her grip, looked into my eyes, and said, "Nice shot, Cast Away. " This obviously sent me over the edge, but I wanted to be funny about it. As I reeled in my forty-second catch of the day, she muttered, "Butthole. Unfortunately, she could not seem to resist having the final word. I quickly reeled the fish in and held it in the air between us. "Hey Melissa! Eat this!" I shouted with excited evilness. I dropped the rod, and cautiously walked towards Melissa. I reared back, finger on the cast-release button on the fishing rod, and flung the fish twenty or thirty feet heading for Melissa. She laughed, picked me up, and began to give me a hug. I pretended as if it hurt, and bent over in pain.
