Asian Americans have been a part of American society for many centuries but for most of the time they have been ignored or made to feel like they were second-class citizens. As of recently many Asian Americans have gained notoriety for their achievements and success in the American job industry.
             Some of these Asian Americans include the likes of Michael Chang, a tennis star, who has won over a total of 30 career titles and has been a finalist in 21 other tournaments and set many precedents which include being the youngest player to win a main draw match at the U.S. Open and the youngest to reach a Tour semifinal. Becoming the youngest French Open Grand Slam Champion ever in 1989 (the year after he turned pro), he then became the youngest to rank in the Top 5. Chang ended an American drought of the French Open, becoming the first American male to win the French Open since 1955. In 1991 he reached the quarterfinals or better in 13 tournaments. Chang is considered one of the fastest players on the circuit, possessing an all-court game. He, along with many other Asian Americans, have given hope to the many Asian Americans whose dreams can soon become reality.
             But the question remains is the Asian American success a myth or reality? One must take into consideration the fact that most Asian Americans had to struggle and fight for what they have achieved and if you base your entire decision on that fact alone then yes the Asian American success is a reality. But the question is not just based on that one fact, the question should be based on many criteria.
             Asian Americans have been classified as the Model Minority, even though they have experienced prejudice and discrimination they seem to succeed economically, socially, and educationally without resorting to political or violent confrontations with Whites.
