Some of the reasons that we owe money is that we are in debt to other countries from the French and Indian war (1754-63), and the parliament thought since the Anglo-Americans were a possible threat to the welfare of the people then the people should also pay part of the debt for their protection in return. This might not only hurt Britain but unit the people of the colony. Another way that you can alleviate some of the tension is to make the people feel that they have some of the power such as giving the people some of the power such a democratic government. This is just a suggestion but maybe you can write a list of rights and grievances to Britain and if they do not listen to this list then stop all imports from Britain. But also you should also comply with the people of the land to see if they agree with the tax. Also us as colonists have the same civil liberties as British citizens. I am still yet loyal to the king but he is just asking too much of the people that he so called “loves. Because taxation without representation is not the way to go about things because it is illeagal. With the French and Indian war the war was won but after a lot of money was spent.
