Historians know that this attitude was hailed as the truth because it was taught in school’s and even in churches as God’s word, and God’s word is the truth. There’s no doubt that the cop found 1 kilo of cocaine on the man, and the accused is guilty of possession of a controlled substance. The change from slaves to equals was born out of the Emancipation Proclamation and abolitionist beliefs that the Africans should be equal in society. Truth changed because it is directly proportional to the one factor that is change during that times beliefs. African Americans were not to be educated respected, admitted, dignified, but only abused. The man walks away with his record saying that the truth of that situation, in society’s eyes, is that he isn’t guilty. But, the judicial system in America, which did not exist until man’s will devised it, states that based on this technicality the accused can go free. The nations attitude at the time is that was the truth. In contrast, in modern day America, it is much more widely believed that African Americans are equal to whites and are entitled to the same basic rights as anyone else. Between the periods of slavery and freedom, no other factor changed, in America, other than the beliefs of it’s people. No external force would have been able to change that truth, unless the beliefs and subjectivity of man changed. In the 1860’s, particularly in southern states, it was a mans belief that African Americans were slaves, servants to masters who possessed positive qualities found within the human race. Truth can best be described as what is right for man at the given time through the eyes of those that have the power to change it.
