Salvation

The controversial issue of Catholicism is the question, " How can we reach Salvation?" Some people believe that Salvation would be attainable by faith alone. While others believe that good deeds are more valuable then faith. Passages in the bible, such as the one about a prostitute named Rahab, help confirm the truth about reaching salvation.
Faith is belief without proof. Many Catholics believe that faith alone can lead to salvation. Faith is an important step in the path to salvation. Having pure faith for God gives you a confidence in him, an unending trust in him. Having faith is to believe that God will provide, and in the end, having pure faith is to believe that God will bring you to salvation. But having faith is not the most important step in reaching Salvation.
A Christian family learning all about faith, trust, and confidence in God brought up Child. Later in life, the child, still full of faith, becomes selfish and greedy, only caring about himself and no one else. This child cannot reach salvation with faith only because of the life he has lived. Now picture a child brought up in a Buddhist community. The child lives a humble life, but still never having the knowledge of the monotheistic God, Yahweh. This child is closer to salvation then the child with only faith. Feeding the hungry, donating to the poor, these are good deeds. Good deeds are selfless acts of kindness towards other people. Good deeds are the keys to Salvation.
The passage about Rahab, a prostitute who aided the Israelite spies by hiding them from the king's men, helps confirm the truth about reaching Salvation. Rahab had done a good deed by helping the Israelite spies, but one good deed does not out weigh the bad ones that she had done. She was a prostitute selling her body, God's most precious gift, to other men in return for gold. But because of this good deed, she was a step closer into Salvation.
