Alabama and Michigan are both beautiful states in our country. They both contribute for example, in manufacturing and farming, although using different kinds of products and crops. They are both valuable and unique in their own right.Alabama, one of the southern states of the U.S., is known as the Heart of Dixie. Alabama has a vital part in the nation's future. In Huntsville, Alabama, which is also known as Rocket City, USA, is the site of Redstone Arsenal and the Marshall Space Flight Center. Scientist developed many important rocket and space vehicles, including the Saturn V rocket system that carried the first astronauts to land on the moon. Alabama has many natural resources that are industrialized such as thick pine forests, valuable mineral deposits, and deep rivers. It has valuable mineral deposits of coal and limestone. These minerals are used in the production of iron and steel. Alabama also produces important oil and natural gas fields. The manufacturing accounts for 24 per cent of the gross state product. Only 300,000 people live in the Upper Peninsula, which are approximately only 3 per cent of Michigan's population. The Lower Peninsula is fairly level, but some parts are rolling and hilly. Detroit is called the Automobile Capital of the World and the Motor City. In producing crops, Michigan is among the nation's leaders. The 1980 census report showed the population in Michigan was 9,262,070 people. Michigan is the leading state in food processing and steel production. Some animals in Alabama are bobcats, deer, red and gray foxes, minks, opossums, rabbits, raccoons, skunks, squirrels, and wild turkeys. Forest-covered hills and ridges spread over much of northern Alabama. In 1980, the census showed there was a population of 3,798,978 people. The Black Belt region is a narrow strip of rolling prairie wedged between the northern and southern parts of the East Gulf Coastal Plain. In places where the land has been cleared, bright red clay soils add splashes of color to the landscape. It has a low, swampy land in the north and in the south it's mostly wiregrass, which is perfect for farming. Although the states offer beautiful but different terrain and natural resources their frequently visited by thousands of tourist and vacationers. The UP also has 150 beautiful waterfalls.
