The company that we chose as a model for our project is a company called Micon Telecom. Micon Telecom is a small, female owned telecommunications firm that offers complete technology solutions for all types of businesses. Micon is conveniently located in Fremont, CA, but conducts business statewide. Micon has been operating for over 12 years, opening in 1989, before the big telecommunications boom of the 1990’s.

Micon started out as an idea from Owner and President, Evangelina Calderon. Originally Evangelina (Vangie) worked for Pacific Bell as a project manager, so she had previous experience in the telecommunications industry. Vangie was very aware of the rising demand for telecommunications in business. So she decided to leave Pacific Bell, and with the help of her husband Trinidad Calderon, started her own telecommunications consulting firm. Micon has been running strong ever since.

Micon can implement a network and provide hardware at a reasonable cost. Micon works closely with Meridian, and Nortel to provide the best possible price to its clientele.

The main focus of Micon is its Networking/ Hardware services. There are places where wireless communication is needed to conduct its business. Micon works directly with Qwest Communications and Pacific Bell, so that the client has an option for which provider to use, if they don’t have it already. Micon can assist these companies by providing a service of taking down and putting together network components in the new place of business.

Micon provides Graphic and Web design for businesses to advertise themselves. Micon provides communications services to help this need. Micon provides service for all types of network and hardware needs. The same maintenance and technical support is also included with these services. Micon also offers network maintenance, troubleshooting/repair, and technical support for all the clientele that work with Micon. Micon provides a solution for companies facing the difficulty of relocation. Micon can also offer its clientele a choice in an ISP. AT&T has good group rate plans and Nextel has its patented Direct Connect service for businesses who need constant contact with its employees. Micon offers PBX and Key systems implementation, Video Conferencing systems, Voice Mail systems and all the hardware associated with this.
