Making the Cash
Today, it is difficult to keep a steady-paying job and, at the same time, maintain steady grades at school. For most people, this task has shown to be nearly impossible. I, for instance, am having a very difficult time trying to juggle my writing essays, doing homework, attending class and keeping up the money I need to pay for college and all of the other necessities. As all problems do, this problem I have has several attributes. My first problem is lack of transportation. My truck has been out of service for two months because of lack of proper brake pads, a dead battery, and the fact that my parents want to teach me to be appreciative of the things I have. They have reasonably withheld my truck from me in order for my better understanding of economic responsibilities and making my grades in college. Also, they feel that a job would be too much to handle here in my first year of such a higher learning institute as Birmingham-Southern College. So their suggestion is to not have a truck here in this first semester. All this reason is perfectly understandable, but I can see where not having a car for transport could adversely affect my economic income. Connor Shattuck is another freshman who has entered B-SC. Two organizations have me by the you-know-whats. Clean-ups, study halls, dues, and time are all to be contributed to the success of the fraternity. Another major problem is the fact of my clouded schedule. Are there ways in which I could improve the lack of such desires and needs? Would it be better to call up Suze Orman to give financial advice and strategies? Is it a lost hope and/or are the following solutions void?My first solution is to establish more time in my daily routine. This job would help me pay for dues at the fraternity, insurance for my truck, gas for my truck, and books and supplies for classes and other instances. Just as well, I have recently been putting in my cents worth as a pledge for the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Michael Flowers advised that "Since your major has to deal with a lot of credits, taking away classes would not be beneficial, especially towards your junior and senior years" (Flowers). Study Hall for the fraternity ends around 9:30 and then I have time to do my homework. It seems that is the only way to get places, make the grades and make the cash. For me, mornings begin every day at 7:30. If somehow I could manage more of my time, I might be able to fix my problem. First, allow me to explain my involvement in the theatre program at B-SC. Time, money, transportation: I don't have these things which are essential to providing me with a good education as well as my reputation in terms of the B-SC faculty.
