The delegates came to Philadelphia in general agreement that there were defects in the Articles of Confederation that had to be remedied. Votes are one of most valuable right given by the constitution of United States.
The Massachusetts constitution was a good deal less democratic. This enables them to rule more fairly, and follow the constitution. The Supreme Court recognized that to allow the Constitution to reflect the people’s views, it had to allow the integration of blacks and whites into the same schools. The delegates believed the answer was not “democracy”, as it was then understood. Had they decided to make their business that of listing these defects and deviating alternative remedies for them, the document what would emerge would be in all likelihood have been very different from what in fact was adopted. Two possible trials are Roe v Wade and Brown v Board of Education. However, the Assembly disenfranchise the Quakers, persecuted conscientious objectors to the war, ignored the requirement of trial by juries, and manipulated the judiciary. The Pennsylvania experience as well as the history of British government led the Framers to doubt whether popular consent alone would be sufficient guarantor of liberty. They had not yet accepted a political theory that would guide them and tell them what kind of national government would best serve their lofty goals of creating a democracy that would fulfill their needs.
