Interpretation On The Dancer

            Clarissa, at the age of 5, was a sociopath who had bad nightmares and was antisocial when she arrived at her new foster home. There she was introduced to dancing and from there on, her life drastically changed from a self-effacing girl into an Assinaboin woman with her own identity. In her earlier years, Clarissa had no self-esteem and no self-worthy, but her life was quickly transformed when she began dancing which led to developing her own identity and self worthy.
             Before dancing, Clarissa was affected with a personality disorder that made her feel like she wasn't like anyone else, but made her feel she was different and unequal to others. This lead to her anti-social behavior. "She just seemed like she was all full up with anger and sacredness like lots of kids who come to me." (Page 18 paragraph 2 line7-9) Indeed Clarissa was scared and agitated, but she felt like she was in a world of her own, of loneliness and of no purpose of living. "Only she was a real loner. Not trusting nobody."(Page 18 paragraph 2 line 8-9) Before Clarissa took up dancing, she had no identity, no personality, and no friends. All of these attributes about Clarissa made her face the world on her own, and not like other young children who had parents to support each and every move they make. Clarissa had no background; she had been passed around a few times before she took her place in a family she felt comfortable in, like a puck being taken up the ice before it found its place in the net. With all of these drastic foster home changes, Clarissa developed scary nightmares. "She'd be screaming and crying with her little body wriggling on the bed," Before dancing, Clarissa's life seemed as if it didn't have any hope. Though, "Not all who wander are lost." said by J.R.R. Tolkien. Clarissa eventually found what she wanted to do: dance.
