Diversity is an important component of the organizational structure of the McDonalds Corporation. Ray Kroc is the founder and creator of the McDonald franchise, he has been consistent with making McDonald's one of the world's leading fast food organizations. To show how dedicated the company is to employee satisfaction, they have developed a "People Promise"; this people promise is a "statement of [McDonalds] commitment to every person in [its] system (enter citation). There are several aspects of diversity that contribute to the organizational structure of the fortune 500 company, among these are advancements in education, the increase of employment for different minority groups, and the development of corporate vision of diversity. McDonald's has been branded as the "golden arches with delicious Big Mac and Chicken Nuggets", but this company is much more than just a fast food joint , it also provides a place in society for women, men, Asians, Blacks, Hispanics, teenagers, the disabled, the elderly, and many other different and diverse people. In addition to offering internal education, they also offer scholarships to student-employees, such as the National Employee Scholarship Program. They offer opportunities for those entering (teenagers) or reentering (elderly) the job market and for those who have had difficulties obtaining employment due to physical or mental limitations (McDonald's Corp 2). Other minority groups would include women, who occupy 45% of middle-management positions, Blacks, and Hispanics. However, most fail to realize the important role that diversity has played in making this fortune 500 company one of the cornerstones in today's society. An example of the workshops they give would include Changing Workforce Seminars and Diversity Education Seminars. They also offer instructions on how women and men can work in an environment together successfully. Furthermore, McDonald's broad range of employees would include teenagers, the elderly, and the disabled. These seminars focus on Asian, Black, Hispanic and women's career development. Harness the multi-faced qualities of our diversity--individual and group differences among our people--as a combined, complementary force to run great restaurants. This company has created ways to resemble and also encourage the essence of the American civilization, which we call the melting pot. Ultimately, diversity has had a great impact on the organizational structure of the McDonald's Corporation. In the July, 2002 issue of Fortune Magazine, McDonald's was named as one of "The Best Companies for Minorities". n is an ongoing process within its organization.
