I don't like what your wearing

             A nine-year-old boy is following the trend; the style of today, and his father can't stand it. This boy is just trying to fit in and most importantly be independent. Kids want to feel independent, it is very important to them, and it is a way for them to fit in. They do this in many different ways; some just dress the way that they want to, but others do much worse and get into trouble. For a kid, fitting in and being independent is all they care about and they each have their own way of doing it.
             I know first hand on how hard it is to feel independent. When I was younger my mother used to always dress me. She would lay out my purple, zip up overalls, with my blue plaid shirt and sneakers every morning. I would just go through the motions and put them on. I was teased and made fun of for my mother style of clothing that she chose for me every day. A close friend even told me that she could not be my friend anymore if I kept dressing the way I did. So I finally decided that I wanted to fit into the crowd and be independent, so I started dressing myself. This stopped the teasing and most of all I felt very independent.
             For some of my friends it wasn't so easy. A couple of friends wanted to be cool and independent. But their parents were very strict and didn't allow them be at all. So these friends didn't just wear clothes that their mother and father didn't approve of, they did much worse. They got into gangs, smoking and stealing. They would do what ever they wanted, whenever they wanted and didn't care what people thought. My friends felt cool and most of all independent by acting out the way they did. If their parents would of let them express themselves in little ways, like wearing what they wanted, they might not of acted the way they did.
             So for a young boy to go against his dad's opinion of clothing isn't that bad at all. He is expressing his own self, fittin...
