It has been estimated that approximately one percent of the population in Canada is homosexual. Although this proportion may seem insignificant, it represents over 314 000 people. Canada is known worldwide as one of the freest countries, but there are still restrictions in the law that limit a person's liberty based on sexual preference. Although common-law relationships between same-sex couples are recognised in almost every province, the term marriage is one that the government will not apply to them. Does this not go against all Canadian morals and standards opposed to discrimination? Everyone ought to have the right to be legally married; sexuality should not be an issue.Everyone has a right to be happy. Everyone has a right to live however he or she wants, as long as he or she does not infringe on the rights of another.
