Violence has been a part of video games since they were first introduced to the
world. Pac-Man is a good example of one of the first violent games made, but the point
I am trying to get to, is if this violence in video games is affecting the youth of America.
The violence in video games makes some people concerned that our future generation will
become more violent. They also believe kids will try to mimic what they see in the video
I do not believe that children become violent just from playing some game. The main
influence on any child, that would provoke them to become violent are their role models.
Such as the parents, people they grow up around, and friends. Also the environment they
grow up is another factor in how violent a child becomes. I think the only kids that would
be affected by the violence in video games, are the ones that already have a violent nature.
If a kid is already violent, I think that is the only time, the violence or content of a video
game, would provoke them to become more violent.
Honestly, I think that T.V. shows and movies have more of an influence on young
children, then the violence in today's video games. Movies at times, can seem very
realistic, especially to younger kids that don't know that it's all special affects and movie
stunts. T.V. shows are even worse because kids don't have to buy a ticket like at the
movies to watch what's on. They just have to push a button and on goes the T.V..
One of the single most violent things on T.V. I believe, is wrestling. You and I both know
that all the stuff they do is fake, but to a little kid, it seems quite real. A friend of mine
even told me once, about a couple kids that were fatally injured trying to do what they
saw on wrestling. So you see I don't think the violence in video games
