The Last of the Mohicans # 1 Duncan Heyward was a British Officer. He had one very true love in his life and her name was Cora. They had an incredible friendship that should have lead to marriage. Soon she disappeared from him. She began to love someone else whom Duncan became jealous of. Duncan has a deep love for Cora. He feels that she is everything to him. Through tough battles and fighting he protects Cora from danger. The last thing he wants is something to happen to her. He talks to Cora and thinks they should get married. He thinks it is just a really good friendship and should be the basis for their marriage. Unfortunately, Cora doesn’t think so and doesn’t want to marry him. Later, Cora meets Nathaniel or Hawkeye and he is a charming, handsome man. He likes Cora from the first time he sees her. He fights to protect her from he Indians. He falls in love with Cora and she falls in love for him. Cora is too be burned to death at a stake for punishment of her father, Colonel Edmund Monroe. Nathaniel wants them to take him because he loves her and he doesn’t want anything to happen to her. The surrender terms of the Treaty of Versailles were very harsh. The disadvantage of being too lenient is that someone might not take them seriously. Some advantages are that if you are very lenient in your terms of surrender that it might provoke them to surrender more easily. So in turn you must be very careful in what you say, too lenient or harsh, in your surrender terms. The Last of the Mohicans # 2 The surrender terms given by General Montclaim, a French Officer, to Colonel Monroe, a British Officer, were very lenient. He wants only to marry her but understands why she can’t. Duncan was a really brace character in this movie. Therefore his driving emotion through the movie is his love for Cora. He protects her throughout the battle. The Germans who didn’t even cause the war had to sign the Treaty anyway. She then falls very much in love with Nathaniel. There are many advantages and disadvantages to being too lenient or harsh when making peace.
