Drugs and Their Effects

Many different drugs have very serious, complex negative effects on the person who is using that particular drug. Some of these drugs do actually have some positive effects. Drugs make the brain stimulated in certain places more than others, which are not as stimulated while not on any type of drug. Marijuana makes you act slower, think slower, eat large quantities of food, slows your metabolism (makes you fat eventually) and ruins your short term memory. if you are a long term user and you quit, you will be subject to bouts of anxiety attacks for a period lasting 6 months to a couple of years. There are many types of drugs that have effects on the brain as well as the rest of the body. Alcohol is no safer than drugs. Alcohol impairs judgment and leads to memory lapses. It can lead to blackouts. It distorts vision, shortens coordination, and in addition to the brain can damage every other organ in the body.Cocaine, both in powder form and as crack, is an extremely addictive stimula

Use of cocaine can lead to feelings of paranoia and anxiety. It also appears to have a neurotoxin effect, damaging brain cells that contain dopamine and serotonin, another neurotransmitter. Symptoms of taking Ecstasy are physical symptoms such as muscle tension, nausea, blurred vision, rapid eye movement, faintness, and chills or sweating. Ecstasy also increases heart rate and blood pressure, which is even more of a risk with people with heart disease, or other types of forms of blood deficiencies. These drugs may cause hallucinations and illusions as well, as the amplification of sense, and the alterations of thinking and self-awareness. MethamphetamineKnown on the street as meth, speed, chalk, ice, crystal, and glass, methamphetamine is an addictive stimulant that strongly activates certain systems in the brain. Over time, methamphetamine appears to cause reduced levels of dopamine, which can result in symptoms like those of Parkinson's disease, a severe movement disorder. Like most drugs, this one impairs memory and can cause paranoia, anxiety, and confusion. While the cells may re-connect after discontinued use of the drug, they don't re-connect normally. The physical effects of these drugs include: dilated pupils, elevated body temperature, increased heart rate and blood pressure, appetite loss, sleeplessness, tremors, headaches, nausea, sweating, heart palpitations, blurring of vision, memory loss, trembling, and itching. Unfortunately, steroids cause moodiness and can permanently impair learning and memory abilities. An addict usually loses interest in many areas of life, including school, sports, family, and friends. Although they make the uses stronger, in later life, that person has a good chance to develop muscles that no longer work as they should, and eventually become unusable. Unfortunately, steroids cause moodiness and can permanently impair learning and memory abilities. Methamphetamine releases high levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine, which stimulates brain cells, enhancing mood and body movement.
