Next Day Finals
Its Monday evening and I have a two hour break before my next class. On Friday I have three tests for different classes. It is the beginning of my freshman year and I am not sure what to all expect. I have tons of material that I know I need to review if I plan on passing them. My only focus is to study, and focusing is the main problem. I need to find a nice and quiet place to sit down and study without being distracted. Something I did not know at the time was how hard it is to find that place. I first tried the campus lawn. The sun was out and the air was fresh. It was a perfect setting, in the outdoors and with lots of room to lounge. All the benches and tables around the campus lawn were taken so I found a nice spot in the grass beside a tree that was away from the sidewalk and still in the sun. I soon found a few important things out. The grass was very damp. I tried to deal with it, but I also came across lots of people walking and talking aimlessly. Every minute that passed they were just trying to pry me from my books. There was not a single dry spot to sit and it was impossible to stay away from a friendly smoker that had also decided that I had one of the best places on the lawn.
It could also be designed by engineering department and include things such as water fountains, ponds, gazebos, and rock paths, depending on how much money could be raised or allotted for this. Having this clean air could increase the productivity and performance of collage students. This park could be built by the landscaping department and through hiring cheap labor by offering students small part time jobs to help with the manual labor. The park would not only be fore use of the struggling freshman student that cannot find a quiet place to study. It would also bring ISU many other positive results. This all caused my mind wonder and think of what could possibly help me stay focused. The ideal location would be that of somewhere quiet, out in the warm sun, away from the busy hustle of people, away from the streets of the rushing cars that are just waiting to cause a noisy commotion, and maybe most important, be out in the fresh air. It was just not the right place to try and concentrate and hope to get anything done. Well I did find the student lounge, but only to find that it was small and already full of people. I later tried the student lounge at the library, that I was informed about. The beauty could also become part of the university's reputation and help the school be recognized in the nation for its efforts in bettering its environment. The park would be a place to sit down and study or do a little homework between classes or just throughout the day. It was noisy and very busy with students bustling back and forth. Now this may seem like only a small personal problem for me but it may also be contributed to by the university. Next I was off to the Student Union Building.
