When people think "slavery", they view it as the dehumanizing and degradation of the African race solely because of the color of their skin. People do not see that there were profits to be made with our African ancestors. In the eighteenth century, our ancestors were stripped of their name, and their culture, to become a forced employee to the American white man. They were brought from our motherland of Africa to be clean shaven and dipped in palm oil in order to present a more well groomed look for the "planters" interested in good slaves for their plantations. Taken from their homes and brought into a new social structure and a different dialect of culture, many slaves showed no signs of emotion from such treatment. Much stronger individual slaves maintained hope and long term prosperity. With the known proviso of only types of labor, numerous slaves could not handle this subjugation, and could not hide their feeling of pain and anguish especially, when families felt the depreciation of their worth ; as slaves were exhibited to the buyers and presented like well groomed horses. These slaves were forced into what is considered free labor. They were not getting paid for their long days-- sweating, many times having "cotton p

But to the large planter, it is much more valuable when held in large parcels,. They were not in the liberty of paying wages to the slaves at this time because it would be an added, unnecessary expense. slave holders maximized profit by working slaves to death in seven years" .
Beginning around 1517, Bishop Bartolemeo de las Cascas encouraged immigration to the "new world" by permitting Spaniards to import African slaves to America. Especially with the titles of tobacco planting or custodian, this will serve to be an economic bonus once again -- saving the white boss the money to hire a professional to preform expensive agricultural duties or sanitational duties. Even through various degrees of punishment, it seemed that the Negroes were still careless and unthoughtful in their working manner:

The purpose of this essay is to make evident that the cotton industry was a temporary success at the price of African enslavement and the subjugation of Africans was an economic bonus for the American man because it allowed him to achieve profitable goals without the expenses of paid labor to the African slaves. They were sometimes remarkably shortsighted in the use of their investments. As the cotton crop continued to increase, this source of supply became inadequate and the ethical and prudential boundaries built in this business started to wear thin. found cheaper to work a slave to death in a few years and to buy a new one than to care for him in sickness and old age,"
Slaves were driven mercilessly. The white man did not want to include paying the Negro as one of his expenses down the yellow brick road to profit . It's his nature and you cannot change it.
