Walking down the street in downtown Burlingame, California shops consistently caught my eye- The Gap, Banana Republic, and J. Crew. As I was about to enter Ralph Lauren two young men in pressed black slacks and white collared shirts approached me. They introduced themselves as Elder Hansen and Elder Smith from the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints, and asked if I had time to hear “the word of the Lord.” In response I told them that I did not have time but I was very interested. The men were so thankful that I did not reject them, Elder Hansen eagerly reached into his pocket and handed me a pamphlet with their names and number where they could be reached. This particular incident marked the beginning of my exploration into the Mormon religion.

The doorway to unknown information was awaiting me as I slowly approached the entrance of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints in Menlo Park, California. As I opened the door and stood solemnly in the reception
