Huckleberry Finn

1. This book starts on the Mississippi River, where Huck is adopted by an

elderly widow. As we start the journey, the widow is attempting to civilize

Huckleberry or Huck as he likes to be called. But Huck was too much of a

free spirit to be tamed. As we go alone on Huck’s journey, we find out how

adventurous Huck really is. For instance, after his dad took him away from

the widow, he faked his own death to get away from his dad. As he was

running away, he ran into Jim, the widow’s slave. So they both decided to

run down the Mississippi River to freedom. But as they were going down the

river, things didn’t go as smoothly as they planned. First there was a family

that got killed in a feud. Then Jim and Huck took a couple crooks aboard

their raft. As the journey winds to an end, Huck runs into his good old

friend, Tom Sawyer. And since Jim was not free, Huck and Tom dreamt up a

plan to free him. Although their plan didn’t work, it all worked out in the

. . .

They won’t let him

find his was home for ten years. And the south are the

set backs in which Jim and Huck go through. As the book unwinds they each found how hard

it was to accomplish the task they had undertaken. His struggle alone his journey is to

become free. Every time they set foot on

land they are held up, but as long as they stay on the river they are free. Because the duke and the king threatened Huck

if he told anyone they were frauds, they would turn Jim in. “These uncles of yourn ain’t no uncles at all - they’re a couple of frauds

- regular dead-beats. When he escaped from his dad and the widow he

thought he was free until he ran into Jim. ” This quote is an in sight to who Huck really is. About the things I say or do might affect other people’s lives.

Although he lies sometimes, he won’t let a couple of low lifes take all the

money from a couple of trusting girls.
