Giving versus Teaching
Giving and teaching are two very different concepts. For reasons such as, earning what is wanted, using what is learned, and the involvement of learning in everyday life, one can easily compare giving and teaching. A good quote that uses both giving and teaching is "Give a man a fish; you feed him for a day. Teach him to fish; he feeds himself for a lifetime.
An example of this is getting your first car. As the quote implies, if one is taught to fish one can catch as many fish as wanted. This theory can be related back to the fishing quote in that after learning to fish, the fish caught are more important to the fisherman. Through these examples one can see that in the long run teaching is better than giving. When given something it is usually not as important because it does not require any effort. Most parents give their kids their first car. Although giving is good for special occasions, teaching is good for a lifetime. The child with this car probably will not take as much care of it as a child that pays for his car. They go through many years of medical school and internship before they can start practicing medicine. When taught information at school it helps you do well in the business world. In order to make it in the business world requires hard work. Doctors are good examples of people that work hard for their profession. Learning also helps doing things in the future.
