Marijuana
Two men sit in a jail cell both carrying out the sentence for their crimes. One of them is there for murder and the other for possessing a plant called marijuana. In the state of North Carolina, it is illegal to posses more than 1/2 an once of marijuana. This law does not make much sense. What is odd about this is that a plant that grows from the earth just as a rose or tulip does, can cause a man to be arrested. Marijuana should not be prohibited from medical or recreational use. It is not as dangerous as other products on the market today. Marijuana can be used for stress relief as well. In today's society marijuana is looked at as a dangerous drug. Many people feel that it is dangerous because it is a gateway drug for more lethal drugs
People who have stressful jobs have gone on record stating that marijuana has helped them to keep their emotions in check. Out of every twenty commercials run on the air you might see one about marijuana. Marijuana causes the user to feel relaxed and comfortable. They are able to relax and enjoy the rest of there day. If marijuana is so dangerous why have we not seen more proof? In one year there are 105,000 alcohol-related deaths in America alone. Each day, commercials are run warning today's youth about the dangers of drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes. Marijuana is not physically addictive like many other narcotics. A hardworking person can use marijuana to help escape from the stress and problems of everyday life. Marijuana's effects can be easily compared to any other sedative medical or recreational. Marijuana is not as dangerous as alcohol or cigarettes. Marijuana is not a gateway drug and is not as dangerous as most people believe. How is it fair that so many people die from using these products, yet they are legal and marijuana is not? The answer is it is not fair.
