The history of mankind is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations on the part of man toward woman. In some societies, women had endless tasks, including raising the children, planting and harvesting the grain, and pounding it into flour. Some societies believe that any action to make women's lives more peaceful, just, and humane' must begin at home, with husbands and fathers. The play 'A Doll House', written by Henrik Ibsen, is the story of a woman whose whole life was ruled either by her father or her husband. She decided to challenge the status quo. She revolted and got her independence.The main character Nora Helmer must question the foundation of everything she believes in when her marriage is put to the test. Inexperienced in the ways of the world as a result of this sheltering, Nora is impulsive and materialistic. Sometime she does thing behind her husband. He has built his middle-class living through his own work and not from family money. In society or at home, true happiness and true peace can only be found when people show respect and unconditional love to each other. The time they do spend with Nora consists of Nora playing with them as if she were just another playmate. He doesn't want to give up his values and his reputation. Torvald Helmer, husband of Nora Helmer is a bank manager. Men and women are different but equal partner of human civilization. She wanted to be an equal partner, which he was not. By leaving him, she found her independence. He is particularly concerned with moral values. She wants him to be her companion who can comfort her during hard times. Since then, she has had to find ways to pay back her loan, growing particularly concerned with money.
