In my opinion, it is absolutely impossible to forget that awful event because the media constantly broadcasts the towers being hit and crumbling to the ground. If I remember correctly, television stations broadcasted numerous telethons, a three month anniversary, six month anniversary and finally the one year tribute that took place and aired for America to see, just a few days ago. Radio stations also took part in a tribute by holding fundraisers, and as a matter of fact, every day at 12 noon, 106.1 WBLI plays Whitney Houston’s version of the Star Spangled Banner to commemorate the great loss suffered by so many Americans on September 11th of last year.
I personally think that the amount of coverage given to September 11th’s events is a bit much and does not give Americans time to heal from it. Like the saying goes, everyt

As far as media coverage being good or bad for the mental health of America, I would say that overall it has a negative effect on most people’s mental health, especially for those individuals who lost loved ones. The government, army, police and firefighters are now always on the lookout for any suspicious activity going on within the country which is definitely a good thing. We are just as susceptible to a surprise terrorist attack as any other country is. America has been forced to realize that the country is not invincible. For New York, the World Trade Center was almost like a monument. hing should be taken in moderation, and the media certainly is not doing that.
When thinking about those men and women who narrowly escaped the tragedy with their lives, it becomes even more apparent as to why the media should not always reflect on September 11th. Living through this event, certainly puts many things into perspective. Because I did not lose anyone close to me in the attach, I can only imagine how awful it must be to have to constantly be reminded of that tragedy and knowing that you will never see those people again. In many cases, family members could not even give a proper burial, for the body hadn’t been recovered. New Yorkers feel the repercussions of the Twin Towers’ non existence enough, without having to repeatedly view it on their television screens. Reminders of this, in my opinion, could only make their mental health deteriorate. May our country continue to grow only stronger, and may all Americans learn to value each other and life even more than before.
September 11th will remain a day that will always be in people’s minds and hearts, but hopefully in time, and with media coverage fading out, Americans will finally be able to heal and mourn, but then eventually overcome, in their own time.
