Caesar and Arthur’s biggest flaw is that they are blinded by their own arrogance and fail to see the whole picture. In Caesars case he wants the crown so bad that he fails to listen to all the warnings people gave him. Both these men are similar in many different ways and are great leaders of there countries. It is interesting to note that betrayal for Caesar and King Arthur was not due to unhappiness among the public. Arthur also has a plan to “establish peace and order in the countries near London. ”(Shakespeare 493) King Arthur is betrayed by his greatest knight of the round table, the knight he loved the most, Sir Launcelot. Many plebeians cry out, “O noble Caesar. The just manner in which they rule is reflected by the love the people they rule have for them. ”(Shakespeare 509) Arthur falls in love with Gwynevere, despite Merlin’s warning, “She is destined to fall in love with Sir Launcelot. Rome has many celebrations for Julius. Instead the betrayal came from fear or jealousy within their own infrastructures; Caesar’s Senate, and Arthur’s Round Table. Launcelot, “the favorite of Queen Gwynevere, to of whom he swore oaths of fidelity,” falls in love and Arthur sentences Gwynevere to death. Julius is betrayed by the people in power underneath him.
