Is it Wrong to Defy Nature?
To answer the question "Is it wrong to defy nature?", one must first have a clear definition of the implicit meanings of the words "wrong", and "nature", and understand the context in which the words are used. The word "wrong" is to be seen as either destructive in the majority of outcome, or against the majority of mankind's perception of what is beneficial to do. Mankind, although born into nature, has clearly superceded it in many regards. So the word "nature" in this question, is the world as it would be without human interference, dominance, or existence., or "organic nature". The nature of humans is something entirely different from, and often times perceived as in competition with organic nature. All of this could easily reshape this question into; "Is it destructive or opposite of mankind's perception of what is beneficial to do to defy organic nature, and alter existence as it would be without the interference, dominance, or existence of mankind?" Of course it is not. Human's defiance of nature is what makes us the top of the food chain, and the smartest, most advanced creature on the planet. Without our defiance of what organic nature imposes on us we wouldn't have many of the things that benefit humans to an immeasurab
Without government those evils would flourish, because even the decent-minded would be forced to go against their own good natures, or perish in peaceful resistance. It is when we lose track of what is beneficial to a majority, and stop caring about what level of destruction we cause that it is wrong of us to favor our own nature over that of organic nature. Oddly enough they can be somewhat easily placed into two categories; destructive and beneficial. From this ideology we became the first species who's sole purpose wasn't just to provide necessities for ourselves or offspring. But speaking in the vast majority, entertainment serves to enrich the lives of many, and benefit us more than they do harm. Although jobs are not always (or hardly ever) most human's favorite activity, it is a necessity that has, does, and will continue to contribute to the advancement of mankind and benefit a majority of humans. Being that human-nature is social by definition, to have an outlet for expression helps people to connect to others, and helps those that are connected to by art feel in touch with whoever made the art. Having this social necessity makes marriage a rather vital aspect of human nature. All the things that make life better for a majority of people, or within a country and it's government beneficial to the majority of it's people, are the positive and virtuous aspects of human nature, and all those that cause suffering or irreparable destruction are the negative aspects of human nature. But, man's mistrust of their own kind is based in reason; and that mistrust too, is a defiance of nature. That mistrust, like all other advantages of human nature over organic nature, is based in reason. Because of this we have advanced our civilizations greatly. Humans look for a governing, paternal figure in their everyday lives; and it's because they don't trust their fellow humans or themselves.
