My Oedipus Complex
The appreciation of Frank O'Connor 's work is continually undercut by his subjects personal feelings (James Matthews 1983). This is clearly seen in his short story "My Oedipus Complex". In his autobiography "An Only Child" he describes his father Mick O'Donovan as an abusive drunkard. His mother Minnie he writes of being saintly and strong in her ability to support the family.
