Racial Profilling Since 9/11

             The way we do battle is considered an ever changing art. War is constantly evolving with technology and culture. In revolutionary times it was customary for an army to line up and simply march through its opposing force. In the First World War, soldiers would dig trenches and mow opposing forces down simply to defend an imaginary line. The only thing that is true in the "Art of War" is that lives are lost. War is not an art, and war is simply not fair. Life is not fair. We live in a society where war is very real, and sometimes one has to fight for what he believes in. On September 11th war was once again forced to evolve. Now we face a new enemy that demands us to possibly contradict some of the beliefs that this country was founded on. It is only in our own self defense that some subjects must be more closely examined than others. Frank Wu says, "Our war on terrorism need not and should not become a war on a particular racial group or faith." I believe it to be ignorant to disregard that the enemy thus far has all been from one racial group or faith. In a time of war such as now, members of groups in question should make a stronger case toward proving their innocence. Proving ones innocence is not right or fair but neither were the events of September 11. The war on Terror is a war where one of our only means of defense is to spot the enemy before attack. To not use a profiling tactic would be like blindfolding ourselves. The war on Terror is a new type of war. The enemy now has advantages which make it almost impossible to stop the threat. These advantages are so great that it forces us to reevaluate what we can and cannot do to defend ourselves from terror. Racial profiling is now necessary because September 11th marked the beginning of a new homeland war where an unidentifiable enemy has limitless targets.
             The war on Terror is the first war where the enemy is within our borders. Everyday we face a possible terrorist attack....
