Mother to Son

Langston Hughes' "Mother to Son" is a poem that has inspired me ever since I read it in my eighth grade English class. It is something that everyone should understand, that although there might be many obstacles in life, one should never give up. In the poem, a mother is teaching this important concept of life to her son, saying that life for her wasn't easy, but she surpassed the obstacle, and she is here right now, after all that has happened.
What the mother in the poem is teaching her son is something that everyone should learn. Some people give up too easily as soon as encountering some problems. If one gives up too easily, he/she will never succeed. Neither will that person ever achieve his/her goal in life. I have always believed that success never comes without obstacles and consequences. It might seem like something very difficult to achieve at first, but at the end, after the goal has been achieved, one would realize that it has been worth it all. The feeling of success is incomparable to anything else in life.
Whenever I encounter any problems or obstacles in life, I would always think of this poem, knowing that there is not any problem that cannot be resolved. I also know that I would eventually achieve my goal as long as I have confidence and determination in what I am doing, and most importantly, myself. The problems in life can be thought of as a test to be successful and achievement.
Obstacles and problems are part of life. Without them, life would be too predictable, which would take away from the whole meaning of life. Life is a journey that is full of surprises, obstacles, achievements, experiences, and many more. Everyone should never give up and keep going, knowing that the clouds will go away and the sun will come out eventually.
