So, mankind would know that certain things needed to be done to make the warring gods stop fighting. This could possibly start a war between the gods who would disagree about the issue. The gods could have defined many things as being holy. Until people started to understand what things the majority of the gods loved, mankind could only try to reduce bad things that happened to them by trial and error. So, some gods considered some things holy that other gods did not. One side believes godly love cause holiness while the other feels holiness causes godly love. It is possible that what was dear to the gods or morally righteous could be aspects of holiness to them. So, mankind would try to love only what the god’s considered holy. For instance, maybe parental figures were considered holy to the gods so they loved them because they were holy. e could be defined by moral righteousness, what is dear to the god’s, or honoring the gods through prayer and sacrifice. It is possible some of the gods that did not like what the person did for them would do something bad to that person.
