Mac Vs. PC

With so many desktop computers on the market today, making a decision on what to buy seems to be getting harder and harder. It seems everyone is offering new and innovative ideas on a daily basis. When you break it down, two major manufacturers stand in a class all their own. The battle between Macintosh and PC based machines is nearly two decades old. Each claims to have the upper hand against their competition, both offering the best technology available. Macs and PCs both offer a little something different in each of their platforms, yet the real decision between the two lies with the consumer.

Macintoshes have been around the longest, and have grown from a garage operation to one of the nation's largest and most influential corporations. Generally $400 to $600 more than a base

PC or Windows based machines hold their own ground as well. Direct mail-order companies, which build state-of-the-art machines to any configuration desired, provide the best PC buys.

Although these two platforms are more alike than ever before, the software availability issue is enough to nudge me in the direction of purchasing a PC. PC, new Apple systems such as the sleek and stylish IMac have caught the attention of many of the market’s younger buyers. Not only is the Mac OS platform more user friendly than a Windows based machine, Apple's 24 hour customer service toll - free line is unmatched in the industry. Power also accompanies these stylish machines, with most systems sporting a new G4 processor capable of 700 - 800 Mhz. Because of their widespread use, the practicality of these machines is unmatched. For the consumer, this means lower prices and more choices. Plus, many people want a simpler computer, and will never open it up or upgrade. In addition to this, most Macs are fully expandable, with plenty of upgrade options. That’s exactly what makes buying a new PC so rewarding. The consistency between different businesses makes it easy to transfer knowledge, experience, and files to other companies, or to new jobs. If you ever have a problem with your new Mac, have no fear. Even though Macs offer a sense of style and great customer service, PC products, unlike Apple products, are everywhere, and the prices on them are falling as we speak. Finally, over 90% of businesses worldwide use PCs and Windows based machines.
