Reality Television
CRASH!! There has just been an accident. Suddenly there are sounds of sirens from ambulances and police cars rushing to the scene. Many bystanders' curiosity's skyrocket, because they want to know what has happened. People up ahead on the road are slowing down and getting out of their cars in hopes of glimpsing a mangled car or seeing human wreckage. This makes many spectators feel superior to the people involved in the accident or victimized by it. People in society want to know anything and everything about the people around them, whether it is public or private information. They are so involved with other's lives that private moments are being publicized, especially on television. American culture's obsession with reality-based television reveals how voyeurism, exploitation, and fantasy are sought through other people's experiences. Reality shows are broadcasted all over the television. Two of the most well known reality shows were produced on MTV, and those were Road Rules and Real World. These shows basically have the same plot, but Real World remains in the same house while Road Rules travels the World. They have three guys and three girls living together to see how they get along and work toget
This can be seen through Freud, because he believed that people had to deal with their inner child. She cannot leave her world so she "escapes" for a while and during that hour, in which she watches the show, she transforms herself into a different mindset and reality. All it takes is a little reality and a little publicity. By living through their children they can help them to avoid making the same mistakes that they did with their own lives. Even though many people relate themselves to these shows others believe that we are taking reality too far and that these shows are worthless. These shows are just simply storytelling, where the script is written through the editing. Many home viewers want to see as much reality as possible and they are continually wanting more and more. No one has died on live television yet, but theairing of Los Angeles freeway suicide earlier this year - and years before that, the O. The public didn't care if these real people were in pain; they were displayed for their entertainment. It has come in different forms, and people have reacted to it in a variety of ways.
