The Patriot Movie Review

When the Articles of Confederation didn't show to many good results ,giving the states too much power and after all the pressure from king George to the 13 colonies ,finally people began reacting to all the abuses of the taxes and domain from the king and decided to declare the independence of the colonies. That's when people got inspired by a lot of different reasons and decided to either help participating in the army or in the different militias . The history presented in the movie "The Patriot" shows the militias in it selves. People in the militias used a different technique as the army , being smarter than the enemy they used strategies ,like hiding behind the trees and then surprising the enemy attacking from the nothing ,taking their time to react as they would if they would be alert of the attack. Militias as shown in this movie ,were constituted by mostly farmers ,trying to protect their families ,most of them ,because they suffered from the lost of different members of their families, like the case of Benjamin Martin .They didn't have uniforms like the army and the weapons that they had were weapons of their own .People in the 1770's wer

Although the movie shows many history facts ,it also doesn't show some facts that in real history were present and they are extremely important for the history of the revolution. The 13-star Betsy Ross flag waved by Benjamin Martin in the final battle scene did not exist at that time. Some landowners such as George Washington, freed their slaves, but many did not. This movie can make you believe in the power that people get to fight when they are incentivated by something to fight for. At the beginning of the movie Benjamin Martin showed himself as a pacifist ,when he decided not to participate in the war. Other colonists fought because of the same reason of Martin ,to protect their families and homes. Red coats are symbolic of the British redcoats, another color might confuse viewers. The movie shows clearly how people made meetings to talk about the declaration of independence that some colonies proposed . This is probably the most important inaccuracy in the movie. What I saw in the movie is just that they were really preservatives in those times ,like for example when the guy ask permission to the father of the girl to write her , that was impressive for me ,but as impressive as when the guy comes back from the war and wants to spend the night with the girl and her parents have to sew him to the sheets ,so that they don't have relations before the marriage. Lord Dunmore, the British governor of Virginia, offered freedom to slaves joining the British cause, but General Washington never formally did. Like we learned in class most of them refused to fight ,because most of them were pacifist and they knew that if they would go to war ,they would most probably dye in the open battles ,living pain to their familiesIn the movie they show real battles like The British possession of Charleston resulted from the Siege of Charleston ,Camden was based on the real Battle of Camden, the unnamed battle was based on elements from both the Battle of Cowpens and the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, Yorktown, which is barely shown, is based on the real Battle of Yorktown. In The Forgotten Experience native Americans are mentioned ,not like in the movie ,where they are not even mentioned once. In the movie they exaggerate about the behavior of the British ,showing them as some kind of nazis group ,because as all we know the English were really religious and they would never burn a catholic church and with people inside.
