Pakastanian Women

After viewing the film “Purdha” in class, I found many different types of positions, issues, and interests for three sides of the problem: the men of the rural Pakistani villages, the women of those villages, and the western world’s point of view. A position is when someone says what they want An issue is a question which defines dispute, and an interest is parties desired goals. After viewing this film, I also had a lot of anger built up inside of me to see how the women are treated over there; however, I will not be discussing my anger, but only my response to the abuse the women go through because of Pakistan people’s beliefs.

The problem with this issue is that hundreds of women are killed and burned each year. This makes their children in danger by showing that this might happen to them, and it’s ok for this to happen. Women have absolute no rights and they are invisible to men. They must be covered head to toe when they are allowed to go out of their house. Women have fewer rights than the men in Pakistan. If a man kills a women, they don’t get in trouble; however, if a women kills his husband in self defense, they are sentenced to ten years in jail or they are put on death row. The other problem is that the outer world do

. . .

Pakistanian women have reasons for their beliefs. The women have reasons for the way they feel about their positions. The men believe that they are protecting there women and their beliefs tell them there is no other right way to do it.

The outer world has a totally different perspective on the issue. There are two groups of Pakistan women; one group doesn’t believe the way they are treated is right. They belief that it is unfair and the abuse should stop. This would show each persons point of view. Other than having to obey their fathers, they want to marry a man in their own will. This would make the outer world understand the Pakistans religion better, show the women that it is part of their religion, and show the men what they are doing is part of their religion. If each party looked at the issue, then they would understand the whole picture easier.

After learning each point of view in this issue, learning their positions, interests, and issues, I could see how this problem could be solved. She keeps it to herself for the sake of her own life. Issues are usually positively stated and apply to both parties. They might not realize that what the Pakistan’s believe. When looking at all points of view in this issue I thought that each party could learn how to educate all people within the Islamic tradition.
