American Beauty

             In the movie American Beauty, Kevin Spacey changes. Whether it is good or bad one can form their opinion. But as far as Kevin's character is concerned, he feels that he is doing the right thing. Kevin's character, which is Lester, is a man in his mid-40s going through an intense midlife crisis; he's grown cynical and is convinced that he has no reason to go on. He also is having a bad relationship with his wife; it is not as warm as it used to be.
             As far as Lester is concerned he feels that he does not need to work under new management or ownership, like Brad. So later in the movie Lester quits his job by blackmailing him and getting a severance pay out of it. He just wants to go back being a kid flipping burgers. So now that he has more time on his hands he goes and buys the best car in the world. A 1970 Pontiac Trans Am. He as always wanted that car since he was younger, now he has it because he quit his other job, which through his eyes was boring. Lester is now on top of the world. All these events lead up to how he feels that he is not needed and by doing what he does through out the film shows that he has a different life. Lester then starts to work out because of his daughter's teenage friend thinks that he is hot. Lester now has something to look forward to again in life.
             His relationship with his wife has weekend through out the years of their marriage. It is shown by when the family sits down for dinner no one; absolutely no one says anything at the table. Carolyn is always playing her music that no one wants to hear. She feels as if there is no more magic anymore. Until one day she meets R.E. King. She is very satisfied with him, it is shown ion the movie when they are at the hotel having sex, and she is all into it calling him "King". Later in the film Lester finds out that his wife is cheating on him. He really is not bothered by that, he just does not want her to tell him ...
