NGOs cant be perfect and sometimes, they don’t even come to par with there mission. Even though NGOs actually go forward and do they work, it might not always be effective. For example: a big AIDS poster near a busy traffic light, in the south side of Delhi says how having sex can lead to AIDS and it shows man going to hell. Even though having sex can cause AIDS, that doesn’t mean that we cant prevent it. The Billboered says nothing about prevention, or in fact how condoms prevent it. This mishap can cause a lot of problems for one, the misleading evidence can give the people the wrong idea of this serious cause. People will either, get scared, spread others the wrong information, and could possibly ruin the cycle of love. This is a serious threat and occasionally these non- profit organizations, wont realize it till its to late. Another thing that these NGOs don’t have much luck on is, when they explain the deadly diseases, the people wont take into consideration what these messengers have to say. The uneducated or the “lower class” residents wouldn’t want to waste there time on hearing some people talk about, something that they think they wont get, when in fact knowing about HIV/AIDS could save your life. Truck drivers, sex
. . .
since these non-profit organizations are non profit, finance is also a concern. Providing voluntary testing and counseling that will show us how many people are in fact infected, and give us a better idea of how we could help. Some people see is it a threat that is put out there to ruin our lives. They have placed ads in the newspaper that are related to HIV/AIDS, installed panels relating to AIDS on 200 DTC buses, hoarding on petrol pumps and colleges, kiosks on G. What I mean by another sector of the same company is, if there is a organization such as Modicare for example, they can have there own AIDS foundation. The National AIDS control programme phase 2 (NACP2) a government based foundation is a big competitor in the game. Setting up IEC and awareness campaigns, that work with the media and the local people in education and spreading awareness. Some people rather here what the government has to here, again its that idea of how the higher authority is the one that should be listened to. If the NGOs are funded by a different company, the company could change its focus and leave that NGO penniless. For example the governments IEC programs have passed on the message through televison programs, radio, and screened many films. road displaying the message of safe sex to the workers, putting up bill boards, and distributing stickers having a HIV/AIDS message. It will also encourage the community to except the fact that someone has AIDS and reduce the social stigma surrounding it. Reduce transmission by blood transfusion and occupational exposure, which would ensure that blood transfer is safe, cheap and convenient. Obviously, once someone has AIDS they can’t be cured, so the only answer is making sure that they don’t get infected in the first place.
