Goodfellas

             The movie, "Goodfellas," screenplay written by Nicholas Pileggi and directed by Martin Scorsese in 1990, had several very good actors playing the roles of various mobsters. The movie "Goodfellas" was based on a book written by Nicholas Pileggi titled, "Wise Guy." Some of the starring actors in "Goodfellas" included were:
             $ Ray Liotta, playing the role of Henry Hill,
             $ Robert De Niro, playing Jimmy Conway
             $ Lorraine Bracco, playing Karen Hill
             $ Frank Sivero, playing Frankie Carbone
             "Goodfellas" is a classic mob movie, based on a true story, told not from an outsider's point of view, but from the point of view of mobster Henry Hill.
             The movie revolves around the life of Mr. Hill, who is an aspiring mobster who ultimately ends up in the witness protection program of the FBI, after he testifies against his former partners. Mr. Hill grew up as a poor Irish-Italian during the 1950's in New York City. While most children dream of being doctors, teachers, lawyers, and various other professions, Henry Hill wanted to be a gangster. One of my favorite lines from the movie was when Mr. Hill said, "As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster. To me, being a gangster was better than being President of the United States." Not many children grow up with these same aspirations. Consequently, Mr. Hill does rise up through the ranks of his Brooklyn neighborhood organized crime family.
             He starts out as a gopher and progresses his way up the ladder. Hill, marries what appeared to be a very young and naive Jewish woman, however we later see that what really attracted her to Henry was his dangerous lifestyle, a huge "turn on" as she refers to her attraction to Henry.
