Lord Of The Flies

Through the novel ?Lord of the Flies? references are given about the government, regular society and its problems. At the beginning of the book Piggy and Ralph bring the society of boys together and are immediately opposed by Jack and his boys. This shows a good example of different governmental parties that don?t necessarily agree about things. Jack says ? ?I ought to be chief, ? because I?m chapter chorister and head boy. I can sing C sharp.? ? (Golding, 18) and although Ralph does not verbally say why he should lead everyone knows because he was the one to gather them and he held the conch. This didn?t work and he didn?t do much about it ? ?And they keep running off. Jack?s dictatorship would?ve been relatively successful if it wasn?t for the Naval Officer. Dictatorships can be successful as Jack shows but usually the dictator gets ?power hungry? and makes a large mistake that leads to their fall. Jack on the other hand probably grew up getting orders from adults and when his turn came around to be the ?adult figure? he was very controlling of his people. ? ? (51)and because of that he failed. Jack?s government was more of a dictatorship. Humans are not perfect and no matter how hard they tried neither could the boys on the island.
