Personal Computers or Laptops: Which do you prefer?
Have you ever used, owned or operated a personal computer or laptop? Do you know which one you prefer? The two (2) most commonly used computers in today's technological world are the personal computer or desktop, which are usually referred to as a PC, and the laptop. Most people will prefer one or the other based on such factors as mobility, memory capacity and visual effects. The PC is the type most commonly found in American households. They can be conveniently used in the home, at school, or in a business setting. One of the best-known features of the PC is the abundance of memory and space, which allows for greater storage of information. The PC has a glass monitor, similar to that of a television screen, which enables the user to view more colors. Due to a higher resolution rate, the graphics are clearer. In addition to these stan
dard features, the PC can have some remarkable components added to it. Overall my preference is the PC due to the fact of its high memory capacity, visual effects, and it being able to be hooked up to surround sound for a great music performance. As we begin to embark on a journey through the 21st century, the uses and benefits derived from the world of computers seems to be limitless. The laptop's portability and lightweight make it a favorite when traveling or going from place to place. Laptops lack the ability to act as a server unlike personal computers. Instead, laptops usually have a touch screen monitor, a touch pad located below the keyboard or a sensitivity button, which is a tiny round button that sticks out from the keyboard's keys. For instance, a hotel manager sitting in his office would have the capability to monitor every transaction that the front desk clerks input into their PC. This has been known to be a drawback for many users because no matter how close or far you are from the screen, the different colors produced will consistently result in a screen that is hard to read. For instance, you can easily add printers, larger speakers, desktop scanner beds and best of all, a bigger hard drive, which allows for program expansion. It would appear that our only limitations in the world of technology are those we fail to pursue. The laptop, as named, is compact and lightweight enough to be easily placed on one's lap, desk or a flat surface enabling the user easy access. The laptop's plastic screen reduces the resolution rate, which in turn reduces the visibility. Because of the difficulty in transporting a mouse attachment, laptops do not possess one. It never ceases to amaze me when I discover a new technological breakthrough whether it applies to personal computers or laptops.
