Umm So Tasty
As I slowly meander down the fast food-ridden avenues of my hometown, the blatant truth is evident; we are a fast food nation. The industry which started as a single spark has spread like wildfire throughout the country engulfing anything in its path. From the charred earth sprout structures supporting the golden arches, whose majestic beauty symbolize an entire industry. Behind this false front is the conspicuous truth, that fast food franchises will over run and manipulate anything and everyone for a fast buck. The industry has spawned the birth of disgustingly good corporations. Their practices were once concealed in the jugular vein which Schlosser punctured to let the bloodless reality out. Now that we have the knowledge behind the fast food industry will it stop us from eating out? Who would have thought that a single in genius idea would change the face of our nation forever? It started out as a simple concept in suburban California and expanded to meet the instantaneous demand. The fast food boom swept the nation in an e . . .
The industry will do nothing but flourish due to the increasing, easy means of production due to technology. Fast food restaurants are coming to dominate more and more sectors of American society. Fast food allows us to expect certain things, helps us to manage our time better, and make life in general a little bit simpler. It will just grow to meet the demands of the people. The accessibility and affordability make it a hot commodity among consumers. Technology is the life line of the industry, it makes the process of making food easy and fast, unlike the traditional way. Yes, I know about all the troubles with the meat, potato, and chicken industries but I’ve ate the food before and I’m still alive and in excellent health. The pace of everyday life is alarming and the industry won’t change. The fast cookers, computerized cash registers, and many other mechanical devices all add to the efficiency which is due to technology. New buildings will continue to be erected at a constant rate until our lifestyle changes. All the attributes of a tasty meal overwhelm the negative aspects of the industry. The industry’s success was inevitable because the technologies made it easy and convenient to those on the urban sprawl. I eat the food for many reasons but not because it’s the best food I’ve ever eaten. With prices staying low and the quantity of food going up it’s no wonder why we return time after time. New franchises move in quite frequently so they can get a piece of the pie.
