College essay

             I have always wanted to participate in many extra curricular activities, and to get involved in many things that could benefit my future. Even though I have extra curricular activities listed on my application, I believe that I could have participated in much more. Most students have the oppurtunity and freetime to take on these hobbies or activities, but I was deprived of that.
             I entered high school with the motivation of involving myself in everything I could, but plans change and so do situations. When my father lost his job, I was stuck with a whole new responsibility that was new to me. I now had to provide for myself, and the things I needed. For a while our budgets were very tight, and I didn't get to have as many things as other students were able to receive. At the time I wasn't even able to provide for myself, because I wasn't old enough to get a job. Once I did get a job, I bought my own car, started paying for my clothes, school fees, insurance, and other necessities. By doing so, I had to work at least 30 hours a week, which cut into most of the free time I had. Although, I wish I could have involved myself in more activities, I still feel that I had conquered a bigger challenge. I began to learn more about myself, and began to mature greatly. Even though I didn't full fill my motivation to participate in as many activities as I could, I felt I had full filled another aspect of my life. This aspect was trying to become an independent,mature, and a responsible person. This situation has also taught me to work hard for the things I want, and not to depend on others. I realised that doing things for my self has made me appreciate what I get much more.
             I am now a senior in highschool, and I have been working since I turned 16. Working and going to school has become an everyday part of my life, and a joyous one.
